Action Research Outline

I have chosen to research a topic that is relevant to the project that I have been developing throughout this program. I have been working in implementing an ePortfolio in one of the business courses at Epoka University. Although the course instructor and I can clearly see the benefits that this implementation will bring to the students' learning and future job hunting, not all the other instructors are on board with the idea of incorporating it to their courses. 

I believe that with the data collected through this action research I will be able to show other instructors evidence of the benefits that an ePortfolio can bring to their students for job application purposes.

Action Research Topic: How can ePortfolios influence business students opportunities for job hunting?

 

B. Purpose of Study: This action research will examine if the use of an ePortfolio increases business students level of employability versus business students that didn’t use one in any of their courses.

C. Fundamental Research Questions

1. Does a student with an ePortfolio have a better opportunity to showcase their knowledge and capabilities as opposed to a business student without one?

2. What employable skills can a student get by the use of an ePortfolio that are valued by graduate employers?  

3. What perception do business students have of their use of an ePortfolio? Are they aware of its benefits?

I chose quantitative as my research design because I believe I can obtain valuable and measurable data from students and employers interviews as well as from literature research.

IV. Focus of Literature Review 

The focus of my literature review will be a look into the opportunities that ePortfolios bring to students during their job hunting. This research aligns as to my innovation project since it will focus on the benefits of the ePortfolios implementation.
