These were the first courses for me in the program and proved challenging for me from the beginning. On the one hand, I feel that there was quite a lot of good material and information that was covered. On the other hand, I was not expecting to have as much freedom as I had. At first, I had to adjust myself to the more free-style learning path. I also am a bit worried about making mistakes and questioned myself about the program that I was entering. In the end, I am very happy that I continued in the course. What I can do better in future? I feel that I tried hard in the course yet there are things that I can do better in the future. I feel that in terms of the project in the course, I did not pay enough attention to the part regarding student learning. My literature review missed some sources related to the architecture area even though this was the focus of the E-Portfolio that was to be created.
Additionally, in my implementation outline, the focus kept on the approval of administrators, instead of looking to develop real-life projects where the students would have authentic learning opportunities.
The feedback that I received was not what I expected because of the time and effort that I invested but it helped me see what I missed. The course is a learning process, as it should be, and I am sure that I will be able to use this process to do better next time, especially in putting learning first.
I want to add that I re-did both assignments and posted them on my E-Portfolio.
In summary, I enjoyed learning the material covered in the courses. I liked learning about the growth mindset and I enjoyed developing the growth mindset plan. The concept was new to me and it made me reflect on different aspects of my life, especially different areas of my life that trigger in me a fixed mindset. The course also helped me change my perspective and view mistakes as learning opportunities.
My learning manifesto made me reflect on my beliefs about education, what I think works, and what I believe still needs to be done.
Completed course material I read all of the material and watched all the videos posted in both courses that I took. As I mentioned before, I lost my focus in not prioritizing student learning even though I remember it being mentioned in the video. I will not lose my focus of the central idea of student learning in the future. Groups I joined a group only in week 6. It took me a while to define my project and to submit for approval, and the delay in this made me wait before joining a group. I also thought that it was easier and faster to work alone on a project – though in the end I realize the working in groups is important for feedback and for reflecting on projects. Being part of a group for the final two weeks made me realize that I missed out on quite a bit. The members of the group welcomed me and helped me with the many questions that I had. We shared ideas and tips and gave each other feedback. In my blog, I reognized the importance of networking as fundamental and critical for the success of people in any profession. My group members were Naima Bagot, Angela Upshaw, Herman Bibbs, Rajalique Mccowin and myself.
Accelerated ADL I think the Accelerated ADL option is right for me now. Now that I understand the dynamics of the courses and now that I have changed my focus to incorporate concepts that I have learned in these courses, I believed that I will be able to keep up better with the pace and learn well in a less structured environment. I have learned a lot and knowing that I am only at the beginning of the program I feel confident that I can become a better instructor.
Given what I have said above, I feel that I deserve a score of 42/50, 85/100
